Everyone has been curious about these new barefoot shoes from Vibram that came out in March. Some fed their curiosity early, others want to hear some feedback. We recently got our hands on a few pairs. For the most part, Dr. Romanov's advice is - try em'. They are fun and unique shoes. There are certain neuances that need to be sorted out, but that is a manufacturing issue. Dr. Romanov has mostly positive things to say about these unique barefoot slip-ons. So go ahead, try-em'.

Subject: Vibram Five Fingers
I've had my " foot gloves" for over a week now. I wear them everyday and here's the skinny on them. When you first try to put them on, your toes seem to resist the toe slots after years of being crammed together in shoes. I just forced them to cooperate after spending the $70+ dollars. The foot gloves seem to fit low around the top of your foot which worried me at first. I over-tightend them w/the rear draw-string which the tightness made them uncomfortable after an hour or so. I eventually loosened them up and they still stayed on my feet & never felt too loose like they would slip off. I don't think they would stay on while swimming, but it's January so I'll have to wait. I now have worn them solid for up to about 8 hrs., then I have to take them off because the the elastic band in front of the toes digs in the top of my foot & leaves a groove. Comfort wise they're pretty cool. It really is like you're going bare-foot in public. Be ready to hear some funky comments & get some long stares. I'm a bare- foot kind of person & it's nice to walk around w/out the gritty feeling on your feet. I've owned and have worn out aqua socks & these are far superior. There's a few things I would change- but I wouldn't give mine back for the world!! Don't get discouraged in the first few days. It'll take at least that for your feet to adjust!!
